Anne Burrell

Anne W. Burrell (born August 25, 1949) is an American TV chef who is a popular personality. Burrell was also an instructor at the Institute of Culinary Education. Burrell hosts the Food Network show Secrets of a Restaurant Chef and co-host of Worst Cooks in America. With her trademark spiky blond hair and pumped-up personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of restaurant dishes and reveals concise easy-to-master techniques to cook at home on her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell has also worked at some of the top restaurants within New York, studied the food culture and culinary traditions of Italy as well as competed on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. While growing up in Upstate New York, Chef Burrell developed a passion for cooking and eating in her early years. Following her graduation with an English and Communication diploma from Canisius College in Buffalo NY she was able to pursue her love of the industry of restaurants by registering as a student at The Culinary Institute of America. I loved every minute during my time of The Culinary Institute of America she says. It was difficult to master how to do, or even work hard enough. Following her graduation, Chef Burrell spent a year in Italy studying at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working for La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria as well as La Bottega del 30 a one Michelin-starred restaurant located in Tuscany. In Italy she gained a deep appreciation and understanding of Italian food and culture. It has had a profound impact on the way that Burrell approaches her cuisine. Burrell is a well-known ambassador to the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation. She has been on the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board, which helps children with obstacles. She speaks about her cooking passion, and also shares her experiences in the food world when she goes on trips across the USA in the roles of speaker and mentor. Anne has said throughout her culinary career she's grateful to have the opportunity to communicate with people what is essential for her.
